CLINICAL EPIDEMIOLOGICAL CHARACTERS OF PERTUSSIS AT CHILDREN AT BAC GIANG WOMEN’S AND CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
Abstract
To describe the clinical epidemiological character of pertussis at children at Bac Giang Women’s anhd Children’s Hospital from 2016 to 2020. A retrospective descriptive study was carried out on 48 children suffering from pertussis treated at Bac Giang Women’s and Children’s Hospital from 2016 to 2020. Results showed the age group of ≤ 3 months was accounted for most cases. The disease occurred around year but concentrated from March to October. The source of infection of the disease was not unclear (83.3%). The day of hospitalization was always in the first week of illness (60.4%). The percentage of pertussis patients in non-severe was 54.2%, in severe form was 45.8%. The most frequent symptoms of pertussis were coughing bout blush, long duration paroxysmal cough and rhinorrhea. Most complications of pertussis in children were pneumonia (87.5%), respiratory failure (43.8%) and hemorrhage (2.1%).
