Abstract

In this study, the gelling ability for the tissue culture medium of Kudzu starch was investigated. The results showed that the post-autoclave pH of MS medium had no difference between Kudzu starch and agar (the control). The culture medium containing Kudzu starch positively impacted growth and physiological parameters but did not affect leaf morphology and total leaf area. Kudzu starch was added into the in vitro propagation medium of chrysanthemum gave positive results, was suitable for the regeneration and multiplication stage and in vitro rooting stage. Chrysanthemum plants derived from the medium using Kudzu starch expressed an equal survival rate to regenerated plants derived from media using agar. Kudzu starch has the potential to be used as a gelling agent for tissue culture.
