Abstract

Using aquatic plant to treat aquaculture wastewater is one of the effective methods to protect water resources and the environment. In this study, enydra fluctuans lour selected for wastewater treatment has an average height of 10 cm, grown in a model (styrofoam box) with a density of 100 trees/m2. The research results showed that enydra fluctuans lour could adapt and grow well in the eel farming wastewater, which was characterized by an increase in biomass parameters. The results were reached via experiment as follows: The average density and biomass of enydra fluctuans lour were increased by 1.69 times and 4 times, respectively, after 20 days of experiment. The pH of wastewater after treatment was ranged from 7 to 8. Total suspended solids (TSS) of wastewater after treatment was reduced by about 78%. COD concentration of wastewater after treatment was decreased from 66 to 72%. This result was confirmed, it is possible to use enydra fluctuans lour to treat organic matter in wastewater from eel farming.
