Abstract

This study investigated, surveyed environmental issues and measured selected air pollutants in poultry production farms at Khoai Chau district, Hung Yen province in order to assess environmental situation, chicken manure treatment facilities and then proposed the measures to improve environmental quality for the livestock facilities. The results showed a medium- scale poultry production (1000-4000 chickens) and large-scale poultry proudction (> 4000 chickens) were predominant in over district, with completely cooping accounting for 82.5% and raising on bedding husk accounted for 87.5%. The amount of chicken manure in the whole district is relatively large (30 tons /day). The measured results of airbone particles, TVOC, NH3 and H2S showed that PM2.5 concentration exceeded the limit values recommended by Vietnamese standards (QCVN:05-2013) about 2-3 times, directly affecting the health of the chicken breeders. It is necessary to plan and build a concentrated chicken manure treatment area, to produce bio-fertilizer from chicken manure in order to use chicken manure in the most effective and safest way, while reducing environmental pollution and other diseases in pountry production.
