“THE SORROW OF WAR” OF BAO NINH FROM THE ARCHETYPAL PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

For the novel "The sorrow of war", writer Bao Ninh wrote about war by expressing the character's memories of the past war and the character's experiences after the war. With love for the country, love for life and kindness, the character overcame the hardships of war and the trauma left by war. This article uses the archetype criticism research method, analytical and synthetic research operations... to study the form and meaning of typical archetypes in the novel "The sorrow of war" by Bao Ninh. The research results show that typical archetypes in this novel include natural archetypes such as forest, water, night and social archetypes such as death, woman, dream, etc. These primordial symbols carry the original meaning in the myth and new meanings in modern times. These archetypes have contributed to helping the work "The sorrow of war" not only shows a perspective on the war of the Vietnamese people but also expresses the humane issues of humanity, infinite love for the human and evokes great sympathy in the hearts of readers. The results of the article contribute reference materials for research and teaching of Vietnamese literature after 1975 on post-war topics.
