RESEARCH ON THE APPLICATION OF LEAN MANUFACTURING PHILOSOPHY TO IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY IN SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZED GARMENT ENTERPRISES
Abstract
In the stituation of the increasingly fierce competition in Vietnam’s Garment Industry, enhancing production efficiency and improving labor productivity have become urgent requirements, particularly for small and medium sized garment enterprises, which often face significant constraints in financial, technological and managerial resources. Effective production management through appropriate line organization and the elimination of waste presents a practical and appropriate approach. Motivated by this reality demand, the research team conducted a study applying the Lean Production tools, combined with sewing line balancing technique to improve facility layout and reorganize the sewing production line at Nhat Hong Garment Factory. The results show that the initiatives contributed to improving the working environment, optimizing labor allocation, and increasing the average productivity from 72% to 80%, while strengthening the enterprise’s competitiveness under limited resource conditions
