Abstract

Song Chu Irrigation Management Company is managing 73 reservoirs and dams, 196 pumps of all kinds (152 irrigation pumping stations, 31 drainage pumping stations, 13 combined pumping stations), 03 boat locks, and 2546 small and medium sluices, 343 water delivery systems. The main water sources are Chu River, Yen River, Ly River, Le River, Hoang River, and Nhon River. In recent years, Song Chu Irrigation Management Company has focused on upgrading and management of irrigation works toward modernization approach for water conservation and cost saving. This aims at promoting agricultural production and improving the ecological environment and living conditions of the local people. However, management and operation of irrigation works are still overlapped and the irrigation management only focuses on investment without significant consideration on operation and maintenance. This article will focus on solutions to improving the performance of irrigation management of irrigation systems managed by the company.
