Abstract

Water balance calculations (CBN) can be developed fully on the currently popular programming languages. In this study, the VB6 programming language is used as a tool to study, design and construct a computational tool (Application CBN - 2017), for the purpose of calculating water balance for reservoirs on a real-time basis. Combining this application with the MIKE NAM flow model can produce effective forecasting of water resources. In 2017 this application was used to serve water balance calculation for small and medium-sized water reservoirs in the Vu Gia Thu Bon river basin and adjacent areas, as part of the regular task assigned by the Directorate of Water Resources. Calculated results include water volume and levels at the end of each day, amount of water discharged through the spill, total daily water shortage, etc.; this research will contribute to a solution for the application of informatics technology in agriculture and irrigation sectors.
