Abstract

Te paper explores the relationship between elderly people’s life satisfaction and
their time use paterns for household chores. Tis study used the document review methodology
and surveyed 399 elderly individuals fom 6 districts of Can To city in 2021. Te results
showed that older residents spend 2.8 - 3.2 hours per day on household tasks. Elderly people
who spend more than 2 hours a day on housework activities feel less satisfed than those who
spend less than 2 hours a day. Te relationship between time use paterns for housework
activities and life satisfaction differs according to employment status, age, gender, living
standards, and living arrangements. Based on this, the article also recommends a variety of
policy implications that helps raise the senior citizens’ level of satisfaction.
