Abstract

Since the “Development Project of Social Work in the Health Sector in the 2011-
2020 period” was approved by the Ministry of Health, social work has been increasingly
professionalized and developed from central to district-level hospitals, gradually asserting
its role and position in caring for people’s health. The results of a study on the current status
of social work activities for patients at some district-level hospitals by a group of lecturers
and postgraduate students from the Vietnam Women’s Academy in 2022 showed that social
work activities such as providing information and communication, consultation for patients,
mobilization and partial support for hospital fees, and free meals have been implemented
and focused on by hospital social work departments. However, the implementation of these
activities still faces many difficulties and limitations. Therefore, there is a need for solutions
to improve the quality and effectiveness of these activities, contributing to the development of
social work in hospitals
