Abstract

Textile and garment is one of the important industries of Vietnam, bringing high
export value, contributing to the country’s economic development. The textile and garment
industry contributes about 10% of the national industrial production value, creating many
jobs for the society After the Covid-19 pandemic, experiencing many difficult factors, the
export turnover of textiles and garments still grew by an average of 13.2% per year, reaching
a value of $44 billion in 2022, an increase of 11.5% compared to the previous year 2021.
However, the value of export turnover is high, but the added value of Vietnam’s textile and
garment industry is still low, there is no sustainable development because the supporting
industry has not developed commensurately, the manufacturing factories have raw materials
do not meet the current development needs. In the context of joining the EU-Vietnam Free
Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the textile and garment supporting industry will attract foreign
direct investment (FDI) to help to create high-quality textile and garment products as well
as promote the development of production and export of textiles and garments, taking
advantage of the opportunities brought by the EVFTA.
