MISSTANDARD BEHAVIOR OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS - CURRENT SITUATIONS AND CAUSES (THE CASE STUDY AT NGUYEN DINH CHIEU SCHOOL, XUAN LOC DISTRICT, DONG NAI PROVINCE)

Abstract

The research aims to uncover the current situation and causes of deviant behavior
among students at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School. Using a random sampling
method, the study carrying our survey with 180 students from grades 7 to 8 who are studying
at the school in the academic year 2022-2023. The research findings indicate that students
at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School exhibit the highest level of deviant behavior in
academic performance, followed by deviant behavior in their relationships among teachers
and friends, and least of all, deviant behavior related to other school regulations. These
students engage in deviant behavior because they “do not know how to control their own
behaviors” and face “academic pressure”. The research results suggest that appropriate

measures need to be taken by the school, families, society, as well as an enhancement the role
of social workers in schools to mitigate deviant behavior among students.
