THEORETICAL APPROACH TO RENEWING THE CONTENT AND METHODS OF OPERATION OF SOCIO-POLITICAL ORGANIZATIONS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE ERA OF NATIONAL RISE: THE CASE OF THE VIETNAM WOMEN’S UNION AFTER NEARLY 40 YEARS “DOI MOI”

Abstract

In the context of the nation’s rise era, renewing the content and methods of operation is a strategic requirement for socio-political organizations like the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) to sustain the major role. This paper focuses on analyzing and applying theories of resource mobilization, social advocacy, and new social movements to explain the transformations of the VWU. Findings of the paper that the VWU has achieved numerous accomplishments in enhancing policy advisory quality; strengthening intersectoral coordination; diversifying resources and streamlining organizational structure; as well as promoting communication and education. Concurrently, the article also discusses challenges regarding to cadre capacity and the effectiveness of people-topeople diplomacy. By employing method of doing litertiture review, this article contributes to the understanding of the role of socio-political organizations in Vietnam’s development
