Abstract

Domestic violence is a serious social problem that significantly impacts victims, especially women and children. Although Vietnam has implemented various policies and services to support victims of domestic violence, there are still many barriers to accessing these services, particularly in rural areas. This study focused on the rural areas of Hue city, aiming to identify the main obstacles that victims face when accessing counseling and support services. Data were collected through a survey of 150 people in rural areas of Phong Dien, Huong Thuy and A Luoi districts, along with in-depth interviews with victims and support staff. The results showed that the main barriers included lack of information, psychological and cultural barriers, financial constraints and ineffective support systems. Based on these findings, the study makes recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the support services for victims of domestic violence
