Abstract

Vocabulary is the system of words within a language. Developing children’s vocabulary aims not only to increase the number of lexical units but also to enhance the diversity of vocabulary in both receptive (understanding) and expressive (speaking) aspects. Vocabulary development is emphasized from a very early age, even before children start speaking. In this context, vocabulary development for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) receives even greater attention. One approach utilized by social work practitioners is the implementation of group social work activities. Dien Bien is a poor mountainous province. In addition to the typical challenges of mountainous areas, such as economic hardship, geographical isolation, and limited educational resources, Dien Bien has a significant number of children with autism who require social work support. This article provides an overview of the current situation of group social work activities aimed at developing vocabulary for children with autism aged 3 to 4 in Dien Bien Province. It proposes recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of vocabulary development for these children.
