The development of the medicinal herb economy in the land border region of Quang Nam Province

Abstract

The land border area of Quang Nam province, comprising Tay Giang and Nam Giang districts adjacent to Sekong province (Lao People's Democratic Republic), not only plays a strategic role in national defense and security but also holds great potential for the development of agroforestry-based economies associated withmedicinal plant cultivation. In recent years, Quang Nam province has introduced several important policies to promote the sustainable development of the medicinal herb sector. However, the actual development of the medicinal herb economy in this border region still faces numerous limitations. This article analyzes the potential and prospects, and current status ofdeveloping the medicinal herb economy in Quang Nam’s land border areas. Based on this analysis, it identifies existing challenges, thereby proposing several solutions to promote the future development of this sector.
