Abstract

This study employs face-to-face interview techniques using comprehensive questionnaires, collecting 110 responses from a diverse sample comprising tourists (50/110), local residents (50/110), and business representatives (10/110) in Da Lat City. The sampling method was designed using quota sampling, guided by demographic characteristics such as gender, age, educational attainment, and geographical distribution. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study integrates qualitative techniques for scale development and quantitative methods, including scale reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and evaluation of environmental sustainability in tourism from the perspectives of different stakeholder groups. The findings identify eight critical criteria influencing the sustainable development of tourism in Da Lat City from an environmental perspective, including: (1) Mitigation of traffic impacts, (2) Control of air pollution, (3) Management of solid waste, (4) Wastewater treatment, (5) Water resource management, (6) Efficient energy utilization, (7) Landscape management, and (8) Management of environmental protection and investment costs. These results provide a robust theoretical and empirical foundation for policymakers, businesses, and local authorities to design and implement targeted strategies aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency and operation of the tourism sector. Furthermore, these measures seek to foster and sustain environmentally-oriented tourism development, contributing to the preservation and promotion of Da Lat City's distinctive natural and cultural heritage in the long term.
