Difficulties in family behavioral culture among generation Z: The case of Thanh Hoa province
Abstract
Generation Z, also known as Gen Z, is demographically classified as the group of people born between 1996 and 2012. This generation was born and raised during a period of rapid technological development, which has brought about significant changes in communication and behavior, posing new challenges for both families and society. Using statistical methods and data analysis, this research aims to identify two primary difficulties of young people in behaving with family: Intergenerational communication and balancing family and work responsibilities. The findings indicate that Generation Z possesses a relatively comprehensive and positive awareness of traditional family behavioral cultural values, as reflected in their support for the preservation of rituals, respect for intergenerational relationships, and a strong sense of personal responsibility in maintaining family culture. However, a clear gap remains between awareness and actual behavior. The main difficulties include academic and work-related pressures, challenges in balancing family responsibilities with personal life, as well as barriers in intergenerational communication and the influence of the technological environment.
