The current situation of solid waste in Da Nang and problems in management

Abstract

Based on theories and the actual state in Da Nang city, combined with descriptive
statistical methods, the article analyzes the current situation of common solid waste (common
domestic solid waste, common industrial solid waste) and hazardous solid waste (hazardous
domestic solid waste, hazardous industrial solid waste) during the past time. Therefore, the article
identifies 6 problems in solid waste management in the city, including: (i) Data management on
solid waste; (ii) high proportion of hazardous industrial solid waste, low rate of industrial solid
waste recycling; (iii) solid medical waste management during the pandemic; (iv) an increasing
trend of plastic waste; (v) solid waste segregation; (vi) solid waste treatment methods.
