The position of Quang Nam authors in the New Poetry movement 1932-1945

Abstract

In the New Poetry movement 1932-1945, Quang Nam authors have a special
position (as initiators, leaders, pioneers, poets, general managers, chief examiners, supervisors,
criticizers, males, and females), which is associated with well-known names such as Phan Khoi,
Nhat Linh, Hoang Dao, Thach Lam, Nam Tran, Hang Phuong, Xuan Tam, and Pham Hau The
article focuses on collecting documents in the period 1932-1945, then identifies the authors’
portraits and position through the New Poetry movement. Besides, the article demonstrates
how those new poetic writers from Quang Nam were welcomed in the biosphere of new
poetic movement. In addition, the study emphasizes characteristics of the insiders’ voices as
“new poetic contemporaries talk about new poetry”, the appearance of regional literature,
and the relationship between the new movement and the national poetry.
