Pottery craft of the Cham people in Bau Truc village, Ninh Thuan province in their livelihood development

Abstract

There are three traditional craft villages of Cham people Ninh Thuan,
including traditional medicine in Phuoc Nhon and An Nhon, brocade weaving in My Nghiep,
and pottery making in Bau Truc, Phuoc Dan town, Ninh Phuoc district, Ninh Thuan province.
For the Cham people, products made from pottery are not only items in their daily life but
also illustrate their cultural and spiritual values associated with their life cycle from birth to
old age and death. In the trend of integration and development, Cham pottery products
are not only considered items but handicrafts and souvenirs that are of interest to domestic
and foreign markets. Surveying pottery craft in Bau Truc village, the article introduces Cham
pottery handicrafts connected with their daily life, religions, festivals, culture, contributing to
improving their local tourism and livelihood
