Protection of intellectual property rights to trademarks by civil remedies in Vietnam

Abstract

Protecting intellectual property rights to trademarks in general and protecting
intellectual property rights by civil remedies in particular has played a critical role in a country’s
socio-economic development. In Viet Nam, the protection and enforcement of intellectual
property rights to trademarks has become more important not only to help attract FDI to the
country in international economic integration but also to enable to connect with the global supply
chain. Therefore, offering adequate protection of intellectual property rights for investors and
rights holders will encourage investment and creativity as well as contributing to the country’s
socio-economic development. The study analyzes the real situation of protecting intellectual
property rights to trademarks in Viet Nam and suggests solutions to related problems.
