Abstract

The most specific characteristic of naturalistic studies on innate abilities is
going directly to the heart, or coming from the mind/spirit itself and the deep structure,
mechanism, and conditions behind it. It amplifies traditional research on innate qualities that
focuses on innate mind and unlimited epistemology of “innate cognition”. The innate mind
is not an empty slogan; it has specific criteria. It clarifies primitive parts of psychology that
mean things present before life begins as the starting point or foundation of psychological
occurrence and development later. It is reasonable to say that research on innate abilities is
in the same vein as ones into cognitive science and philosophy of the mind; and the former
even becomes a part of the latter. There is no doubt that this is an important achievement of
the understanding on mind. Compared with the East, researches on innate qualities in the
West can only be called a return or spiral development since the integral theory of China
and India has the dual interest in both epistemology and philosophy of mind. Besides, the
theory deepens the philosophy of mind. Therefore, analyzing those studies complements
deficiencies of Western research.
