Abstract
In this study, bismuth trimesate materials (Bi-BTC) was successfully synthesized by solvothermal method using different solvents including DMF, methanol, ethanol, acetone, and glycerol. The differences in the crystal structures and morphology of these materials were assessed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The functional groups were studied by a Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Furthermore, the photocatalytic activities of the materials were tested by the degradation of Rhodamin B pigment under the visible light. The results showed that as-prepared material under DMF/MeOH (1:1, v/v) exhibited highest photodegradation toward RhB (97%) amongh all solvents. These results open up a new approach to enhancing the photocatalytic activity of bismuth trimesate materials.
