Abstract

Landslide phenomenon is considered a natural disaster directly affecting the development of mountainous areas in general, the traffic and transportation works in particular. Securing arterial roads connecting the North and South of Vietnam and people’s lives in mountainous areas from this natural disaster is one of the most important issues for national development. The establishment of an effective landslide risk assessment technology suitable for Vietnam is the key issue for disaster reduction. This article presents a number of new technologies for risk assessment as well as solutions to minimize the loss of phenomena. The technologies for establishing landslide maps with different functions are applied for disaster risk management of regions on a large scale. The in-room technology researches as soil testing and computer simulation, landslide monitoring and early warning of landslides are applied for the concrete positions and areas, especially for large-scale and high risk landslide cases.
