PRE-IMPLANTATION GENETIC DIAGNOSIS AND PROSPECT IN VIETNAM.
Abstract
At the moment, in Vietnam all most health facilities applied techniques for prenatal diagnosis while embryos the are the 3-month-old. This technique greatly affect the health of the mother to have an abortion decision. PGD enables couples at risk of transmitting genetic disorders can have the opportunity to have healthy baby.Principles of PGD technique is based on the implementation of in vitro fertilization (IVF) to create embryos, then make embryo biopsy and genetic analysis before embryo transfer. Biopsy of embryos may be polar body biopsy, may be at the cleavage stage embryos (cleavage-embryo biopsy) or blastocyst biopsy. PGD can be applied to diagnose abnormal chromosomes using FISH technique (Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization), can diagnose diseases involving chromosome such as Down syndrome, Patau syndrome (Trisomy 13), Edwards syndrome (Trisomy 18), Klinefelter syndrome (XXY), diagnosis of genetic abnormalities: using QF-PCR technique (Quantitative PCR) or Comparative Genome Hybridization = CGH can diagnose the disease is nearly 200 different singlegene diseases such thalassemia, SMA (Spinal muscular atrophy). In Vietnam, the by the support of KC10 Program, Ministry of Science and Technology, Military Medical University has been implementing the project “Research on the protocol of diagnosis of some genetic disease prior to embryo transfer. The theme is carried out in patients with Thalassemia and, SMA . The results of the research hopes to bring infinite happiness for the couple have healthier babies.
