THE IMPACT OF SOME FACTORS ON THE CONCEPTION RATE OF BUFFALOES BY ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION AND THE ASSESSMENT ON GROWTH CAPABILITY OF F1 CROSS-BRED BUFFALOES.
Abstract
136 female buffaloes in Thai Nguyen and Bac Giang have been studied to determine the approciate time and method of insemination by using straw semen of Murrah buffalo. The results have shown that the approciate time of insemination is from 18 to 24 hours after heat detection, giving a high conception rate (52.17%). The double insemination (1 dose in 18-24 hours after heat detection and 1 dose in 6-9 hours afer the first insemination) gives the highest conception vate (63.33%). The age of female buffaloes has affected the conception rate; therefore, female buffaloes should be from 5 to 8 years old. The newborn weight of F1 buffaloes (male Murrah x female native buffaloes) has been 29.5 kg (male) and 28.67 kg (female). The body weight of F1 buffaloes at 12 month age has been 186.45 kg (male) and 181.23 kg (female). The size of body and the body indexes of F1 buffaloes, have shown a clear direction for meat.
