Abstract

From 6/2012 to 11/2012, Quang Tri Center of Science and Technology, Institute of Marine Biochemistry, Vietnam Academy of Technology has conducted research about acclimatization of seaweed varieties - Kappaphycus alvarezii (Doty) Doty from Ninh Thuan province was planted on coastal zone of Quang Tri province and in initial trials it was planted in the white shrimp ponds. The results have confirmed the ability of acclimatization of Kappaphycus alvarezii (Doty) Doty from Ninh Thuan to Quang Tri. However, according to the results of experiments, the increased biomass is not high. Growth rate of seaweed in the model plant on coastal of Vinh Thach is 4.62%/day in the first 15 days and 3.52%/day for 30 days. Growth rate of seaweed in white shrimp ponds is 1.21%/day in the first 15 days and 1.0%/day for 30 days. It should be studied more to determine the possibility of the increased biomass.
