Abstract

During the period from July 2011 to June 2014, Agricultural Science Institute for Southern Coastal Central of Viet Nam collaborated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Khanh Hoa province to carry out the trial cultivation of the following cocoa varieties: TD2, TD3, TD5, TD6 , TD7, TD8, TD9, TD10 and TD14 in Khanh Hoa. The experiments were carried out in three districts (Khanh Vinh, Dien Khanh and Ninh Hoa) in monoculture and intercropping cultivation conditions under the canopy of orchards and industrial crops. After 3 years, the results showed that cocoa grew well and adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of Khanh Hoa province. In the 9 experimented varieties, three varieties gained much higher yield than the other varieties did. In the conditions of intercropping cultivation under the canopy of orchards, the yield of TD8 was 244.1 kg/ha, and 246.2 kg/ha and 305.3 kg/ha for TD6 and TD3 respectively.
