Abstract

Objectives: To describe knowledge and attitudes about standard prevention in hospitals among undergraduate nursing students at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2022. Methods: A descriptive study was conducted on 253 nursing students from 3st to 4th year at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy by using The questionnaire to assess the knowledge, and attitudes about standard prevention in hospitals among undergraduate nursing students. Data was analyzed by using SPSS 22.0 software. Results: 70.0% of students in the study had a satisfactory knowledge of standard precautions. The mean score of knowledge about standard prevention is 29.2 ± 3.9 on a scale of 0-41. 71.5% of students have a positive attitude about the current curriculum content on standard precautions. Over 85.0% of students expect to receive training in practical knowledge to avoid infections through the use of simulated situations and need further training in knowledge and skills on standard precautions. Conclusion: With this result, it can be expected that students have a good knowledge base about standard prevention to be able to participate in clinical practice, and after graduation, they have good knowledge to apply in future work.
