Clinical, paraclinical characteristics and kidney complications in patients with type 2 diabetes at Department of Internal Medicine 3, Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital
Abstract
Objective: Describe clinical, paraclinical characteristics and kidney complications and some related factors in type 2 diabetes patients treated at Department of Internal Medicine 3, Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital in 2023. Method: Cross-sectional description of 112 patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Results: The rate of women was 52.68%, and men 47.32%. The rate of edema, anemia, and extreme weight loss was 44.64%, 41.07%, and 41.07%. The rate of patients' HbA1c control was 15.63%. Urine: The rate of Protein was 56.12%, glucose 75.51%, and red blood cells 30.61%. The rate of the stage of kidney complications was: stage 5 (29.46%), stage 3 (24.11%), stage 2 (22.32%), stage 4 (6.25%), stage (3.57%). Patients with type 2 diabetes for > 5 years and inadequate HbA1c control had an increased risk of kidney complications compared to patients with the disease for ≤ 5 years and satisfactory HbA1c control. Conclusion: Early detection of type 2 diabetes and good blood sugar control help reduce the risk of kidney complications.
