Abstract
Objective: Describe the clinical characteristics and treatment results of cervical scapulohumeral syndrome due to degenerative cervical vertebrae in department of traditional medicine - Hai Phong Medical University Hospital in 2023 - 2024. Research methods: Descriptive cross-sectional. Results: The average age of patients in the study was 60.88 ± 10.34 years old. Male/female ratio = 18/72. Duration of illness is mainly over 6 months (56.67%). Before treatment, the patient mainly had pain, limited range of motion, and moderate to moderate impact on daily activities. After 12 days of treatment mainly with traditional medicine methods (Electro-acupuncture, acupressure massage), the average VAS score decreased from 5.44 ± 1.3 points to 1.97 ± 1.39 points, the average ROM score decreased from 8.1 ± 5.21 points to 1.77 ± 2.41 points, average NPQ score decreased from 13.38 ± 5.5 points to 4.3 ± 4.3 points, total treatment score decreased from 26.93 ± 9.99 points to 8.03 ± 7.17 points. Symptoms of the pulse and tongue mainly represent viscera function, qi and blood deficiency, cold and stagnation. There are 3 factors that affect treatment results: Duration of illness, limited range of motion, and impact on daily activities. Conclusion: The pulse and tongue symptoms are consistent with cervical scapulohumeral syndrome due to degenerative cervical vertebrae. After 12 days of treatment mainly traditional medicine methods, there was significant improvement.
