Abstract

Objectives: To describe the clinical characteristics of patients with primary periarthritis of the shoulder treated at the Traditional Medicine Department, Hai Phong University of Medicine Hospital in 2024–2025. Methods: A Cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 33 patients diagnosed with isolated periarthritis of the shoulder. Results: The average age of the study participants was 65.91 ± 8.26 years. The female-to-male ratio was 2:1. The majority of patients (81.8%) had disease duration of less than one month. The right-to-left shoulder involvement ratio was 2.3. Ultrasound findings primarily showed biceps tendon injury (48.5%), supraspinatus tendon injury (24.2%), and combined supraspinatus and biceps tendon injury (27.3%). According to the Constant-Murley Score (1987), the pain level before treatment was predominantly moderate to severe, accounting for 81.6%. All patients (100%) had restricted shoulder joint range of motion. Conclusion: This study plays an important role in guiding the diagnosis and treatment of periarthritis humeroscapularis without underlying pathology.
