Evaluation of the results of skull reconstruction surgery using autologous skull bone at Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital in 2023 - 2024

Abstract

Objectives: Evaluation of the results of cranioplasty using autologous skull bone for patients with skull defect after craniotomy. Subjects anh methods: Study on 74 patients diagnosed with skull defect and underwent cranioplasty using autologous skull bone. Results: The common age in the study was under 25 years old, male accounted for 75.7%, the main cause of craniotomy was traumatic brain injury. The rate of patients coming for skull grafting after 3-6 months was 70.1%. The most common postoperative complication was epilepsy with 8.0%, 2.7% of patients had infection, no patient died in the study. 81.1% of patients were assessed as successful after skull grafting. Most patients achieved aesthetic results and were satisfied with the surgical results. Conclusions: Patients who underwent surgery had good clinical improvement, few complications, high aesthetic results and satisfaction.
