Clinical epidemiology and treatment outcomes of respiratory distress syndrome in preterm neonates at Hai Phong Children's Hospital in 2022

Abstract

Objectives: The study was done to describe clinical and paraclinical features and comment on treatment results of patients with acute respiratory distress due to neonatal hyaline membrane disease from January 1st, 2022 to December 31st, 2022. Subjects and Methods. A case-series study was performed on 102 patients with neonatal hyaline membrane disease. Results and Conclusions. Acute respiratory distress was common in males, (male/female was 1.68/1); average gestational age was 31.74 ± 1.87 w, average birth weight was 1698.83 ± 588.02 g. The majority of mother was not prevented by corticoid before birth (76.5%), 66.7% of cases with Acute respiratory distress were severe, radiographic lesions were in II, III stages (88.2%). After treatment, respiratory rate, heart rate, blood gas parameters and X-ray lesions were improved significantly. Survival rate was 89.2%, and complications during treatment was neonatal infections (48.7%).
