The clinical, subclinical characteristics and therapeutic of traditional medicne combine rehabilitation for children with spastic celebral palsy at Hai Phong Children’s Hospital

Abstract

Objectives: Describing the clinical and subclinical characteristics of children with spastic cerebral palsy treated at Hai Phong Children's Hospital from October 2024 to May 2025 and evaluation of the treatment results in the above group of pediatric patients. Subject and methods: The study described the cross-section of over 30 children with spastic cerebral palsy treated at the Department of Traditional Medicine – Rehabilitation, Hai Phong Children's Hospital. Results: The percentage of children with spastic cerebral palsy under the age of 36 months was the highest (66,70%). Children are 70% more likely to be seen in men than in women by 30%. The risk factors for cerebral palsy with spasticity in premature babies account for the highest rate of 46,67%, low birth weight accounts for 40%, asphyxia is 23,33%. Pneumonia (60%), salivation (46,67%) and epilepsy (43,33%) are the most common comorbidities in cerebral palsy children. The rate of quadriplegic cerebral palsy accounts for 76,67%. 100% of children with spastic cerebral palsy have increased muscle tone and tendon reflexes, muscle shrinkage accounts for 58,20%, muscle atrophy is 13,33%. Most children with spastic cerebral palsy show disproportionate activity (76,67%) and limited joint movement (43,30%). The majority of children with spastic cerebral palsy belong to the Interventional Pentathesis (83,33%). Physical damage to the brain through imaging accounts for 90% of which 76,67% have images of ventricular expansion. Electroacupuncture, acupressure massage combined with motor training on spastic cerebral palsy children improved the average GMFCS score of 4,23 ± 0,90 to 4,07 ± 1,08 the difference was statistically significant with p < 0,05.
