Some risk factors relating to stunting in children under 5 years old in Tu Ky, Hai Duong in 2023

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Objective. To describe some risk factors relating to stunting in children under 5 in Tu Ky, Hai Duong in 2023. Subjects and Method. Subjects included 602 children under 5 and their mothers. The method was a cross-sectional study. Results. Some risk factors that were statistically associated with stunting on a multivariate regression model included: not breastfed within 2 hours after birth (aOR=2.243), not fully breastfed in the first 6 months (aOR=2.43), not adequately vaccinated according to schedule and age (aOR=5.748), mother on diet after birth (aOR=3.49), Material education level less than or equal to primary school (aOR=8.309). Conclusions. Stunting is related to many child feeding factors, vaccination, and low maternal education levels.
