Clinical, para-clinical characteristics and complications in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital

Abstract

Objective: Describe clinical and para-clinical characteristics, complications of diabetes, and some related factors in patients with type 2 diabetes. Method: Cross-sectional description of 112 diabetic patients with Type 2 treated at Internal Medicine Department 3 of Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital from January 2023 to April 2023. Results: Age ≥ 70 years old, accounting for 40.18%. The rate of patients controlling fasting blood glucose reached 49.53%, and controlling any blood glucose at 41.96%. The rate of kidney complications is the highest (85.71%). There is a statistically significant relationship between hypertension and any blood sugar control with complications in patients with type 2 diabetes. Conclusion: It is necessary to control blood sugar, and blood pressure, to prevent the occurrence of complications: kidney, heart, and increased osmotic pressure. Thereby contributing to improving the quality of life for patients.
