Status of choosing health care services among people living in Kien An district, Hai Phong in 2022

Abstract

A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 2.064 people from 506 households in Kien An district, Hai Phong city in 2022 with the aim of describing the current situation of people's choice of health care services. The results showed that the high rate (17.5%) of sick people in the past 4 weeks, of which 32.3% did not seek health care services because the majority of people chose to self-treat—using old prescriptions (74.4%). Among those who choose to go for medical examination and medicine, the first choice of sick people was usually private health care (40.8%) followed by higher-level hospitals (city and central level) accounting for 31.5% and the lowest were the district health center and ward health station (20.4% and 7.3%).
