LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT – FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE OF SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

The article reviews studies on the difference between leadership and management in an organization; studies management activities in high schools in Ho Chi Minh City. The results show that in the current context of educational innovation, principals play both the roles of leader and manager. Principals not only manage resources and organize activities to carry out educational tasks, but also have to set goals, create motivation, and attract people to participate in the development of the school. The article proposes to build role models: exemplary leaders, positive leaders, perfect leaders according to the levels of the Standard of Principals.
