USE OF MINIMAL PAIRS IN THE SPEECH THERAPY OF PRONUNCIATION CORRECTION FOR CHILDREN WITH CLEFT LIP AND CLEFT PALATE AFTER SURGERY (Case Study of Ho Chi Minh City and Some Southern Provinces)

Abstract

The article introduces the development and application of minimal pairs in integration with utterance and discourse to conduct the therapy for seven children from 3 to 12 years old with repaired cleft lip and palate in Ho Chi Minh City. Speech therapy was conducted from September 2012 to April 2015 and proved the accuracy of the hypothesis: the effectiveness of therapy for children with cleft lip and palate will be improved considerably, if minimal pairs are used in integration with utterance and discourse.
