Abstract

In recent years, under the pressure to confront social and environmental challenges, businesses have increasingly focused on integrating ethical ideals into their operations. This study offers a comprehensive examination of theories of Buddhist economics and the challenges of implementing Buddhist principles in business practices. By utilising qualitative data, the article examines the impact of Buddhist ethics on the economic practices of Buddhists in the Southeast area of Vietnam. The study's findings indicate that, within contemporary business, Buddhist principles reinforce the ideals of integrity, non-harm, compassion, and social responsibility in the business practices of Buddhists. Nonetheless, the study illustrates the difficulties these Buddhists encounter in reconciling profit generation with ethical conduct in accordance with Buddhist principles.
