THE ETHICAL THOUGHTS OF ANCIENT STOICISM - A GUIDE TO HAPPINESS
Abstract
The philosophical framework of ancient Stoicism epitomizes a pragmatic approach, which is unequivocally evidenced through the ethical dimensions that constitute the ideological architecture of this particular school of thought. The ethical tenets of Stoicism furnish essential paradigms regarding humanity and existence, from which one can cultivate a fulfilling lifestyle that culminates in wisdom. This article aims to elucidate Stoic ethics from two distinct perspectives: philosophical anthropology, which encompasses the foundational concepts that undergird Stoic ethical theory, and the application of practical Stoic ethics. In this manner, it seeks to illuminate both the ideological and practical significance of this philosophical tradition in contemporary society.
