SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF BUDDHISM (A Case Study of Buddhism in the Former Dong Nai Province)

Abstract

Buddhism is a humanistic philosophy that emphasizes the happiness of human beings in relation to nature and society. Based on several secondary sources and qualitative survey data, this study analyzes the social responsibility of Buddhism in Dong Nai province as reflected in both material and spiritual aspects of life. Accordingly, the research proposes several recommendations for Buddhist dignitaries, monks, and nuns with the aim of enhancing further the role of Buddhism in the social life of the local community.
