OVERVIEW OF MIGRATION RESEARCH OF ETHNIC MINORITY IN THE SOUTHEAST REGION

Abstract

The Southeast region, recognized as the vibrant economic hub of Vietnam, attracts numerous migration waves, including those from ethnic minority communities. This article examines research on ethnic minority migration to the Southeast region to pinpoint significant themes and areas lacking investigation. The findings indicate that the majority of studies emphasize the reasons for migration, livelihoods, employment, and social integration, while institutional factors, regional policies, long-term settlement, adaptability, and the preservation of cultural identity are often overlooked. There is also a scarcity of systematic or comparative studies across regions and ethnic groups. Highlighting these gaps will aid in directing future research and provide a solid foundation for policy formulation and adjustments for ethnic minority populations in the Southeast region.
