THE NOVEL GIẤC MỘNG CON (A LITTLE DREAM) BY TẢN ĐÀ FROM THE GENRE PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

Tan Da is one of the stark representatives of Vietnamese literature in the 20^th century. He was the author who stood in the line between Vietnamese medieval literature and modern literature. In his career, he wrote many unique literary works that reflected his own writing style and personality. He also tried himself into writing a novel (a new genre for him in Western style). Giac Mong Con is a phenomenon which showed Tan Da’s renovation of genre. This research will show the pros and cons of Tan Da’s literary works in terms of narrative time, narrative space and character.
