ACCESSIBILITY TO EMPLOYMENT OF STATELESS ETHNIC VIETNAMESE MIGRATING FROM CAMBODIA TO VIETNAM
Abstract
Most Vietnamese living and doing fishing around Tonle Sap lake are stateless and encountering a hard life because of discriminatory treatment of a part of Cambodian authorities and people. However, due to their statelessness, their life in Vietnam is also precarious. This study explores accessibility of employment of stateless Vietnamese migrating from Cambodia to Vietnam. In addition to qualitative and quantitative data collected from secondary sources, this study also uses primary data from household and community observations and in-depth interviews in Tan Thanh and Tan Hoa communes, Tan Chau district, Tay Ninh province which is considered as a new residence of many immigrants. Findings show that statelessness has vitally resulted in accessibility to employment of these immigrants.
