NOVEL’S INNOVATION IN DOI BAN WRITTEN BY NHAT LINH

Abstract

Nhat Linh was one of the most outstanding authors in Vietnamese romance novel from 1900 to 1945. He contributed in the artistic innovation of Vietnamese novel writing. Modern Western writing technique was fluently conducted in his literary works. One of his typical novels was Doi ban. This novel shows his artistic innovation in writing. This paper will analyze Doi ban’s structure, character psychology and narrative language in order to identify Nhat Linh’s artistic innovation in writing.
