BASIC QUESTIONS OF HO CHI MINH CITY'S ECONOMIC GROWTH IN THE 2015-2019 PERIOD AND THE FOLLOWING YEARS

Abstract

The economic growth of Ho Chi Minh City from 2015 to 2019 continuously decreased and it is required to research and evaluate this situation. Based on the theories of growth and the factors of economic growth, the paper identifies some basic issues in GRDP growth of HCMC which are the capital, labor and TFP. The study assesses the current situation of capital, labor and TFP and it shows that, in order to meet the next growth target, the city needs to focus on addressing some specific and urgent issues related to special mechanisms: public investment, investment distribution under the condition of limited resources and preparation of human resources in the context of industrial revolution 4.0.
