REFLECTIONS ON VILLAGE RESEARCH WITH AN INTERDISCIPLINARY AND AREA-STUDY APPROACH
Abstract
Up to now, the studies of Vietnamese villages are mostly approached based on specialized sciences, such as history, culture, ethnography, sociology, jurisprudence, and economics… In the present context, the development of social sciences and humanities has provided us many new theories, and new approaching methods, including the interdisciplinary and area-study approach. Therefore, the utilization of interdisciplinary and area-study approach into social sciences and humanities studies as a whole, and the studies of Vietnamese villages in particular requires each researcher as well as research groups to put more effort into. This article lays the groundwork for the perception of interdisciplinary and area-study approach to the studies of Vietnamese villages, thereby addressing difficulties and prospects of this approach.
